Back Pain Treatment
Back pain is the top reason people visit osteopaths. Four out of five people experience upper or lower back pain at some point in their lives. The good news is we can treat most cases effectively, especially when caught early.
Back pain can develop slowly over time or happen suddenly from an injury or trauma. It can be very distressing when it stops you working, exercising, or doing daily activities.
Cameron-Mitchell Osteopaths are back pain specialists. We’ll explain what’s causing your pain, give you a clear diagnosis, and create a treatment plan with self-care advice.
Common Neck and Back Pain Complaints:
- Muscle spasm and tightness
- Disc problems and strains
- Joint problems and arthritis
- Scoliosis-related pain
- Sciatica and nerve pain
- Acute and chronic lower back pain
- Sports injuries
- Piriformis syndrome
- Sacroiliac joint pain
What your pain feels like
Lower back pain can be sharp and limiting, or dull and aching. Severe muscle spasms might force you into awkward positions. Pain often spreads to your groin, buttocks, legs, and feet because nerves from these areas start in your lower back. Back pain can also disturb your sleep and make it hard to find comfortable positions.
How We Treat Back Pain
We start by asking you to do simple movements, then examine your spine and test the nerves to your legs. We perform standard tests for your spine, pelvis, and hips to confirm our diagnosis. Sometimes we may refer you for further tests or scans.
Our osteopathic treatment includes massage, stretching, and manipulation techniques. For acute or long-term pain, we might use dry needling. We’ll also give you exercises to do at home between sessions.
Our osteopaths use gentle, effective methods to reduce your pain and restore normal movement. We focus on treating the cause, not just the symptoms, to prevent future problems.
